ABI/Autonomic/Nerve Screen Q & A

ABI Test

ANS Test

Sudomotor Test

The ankle-brachial index is the ratio of the blood pressure at the ankle to the blood pressure in the upper arm. Compared to the arm, lower blood pressure in the leg can suggest the presence of blocked arteries due to peripheral artery disease. The Autonomic Nervous System Test (ANS) tests the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which regulates your blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, digestion and metabolism, just to name a few. It helps to find if the body is in or out of homeostasis, or your body's ability to remain in balance. The sudomotor test is the testing of your sweat gland's ability to produce sweat. Depending on how quickly or slowly it does this can help identify if there is any potential for nerve damage to occur.
